A hairdresser and stylist says they’ve had their requests for a lottery win rejected because they are not registered with the state.
The owner of The Beauty Salon in East Orange says the state has not offered them the right to win on a winning card.
“They have no idea what’s going on with our registration,” said owner Tanya Lea.
She said they’ve filed a lawsuit, but they haven’t been given an opportunity to submit a response.
“We have not been told that we are being denied any lottery winnings,” Lea said.
We’ve tried to get ahold of the lottery operator and the lottery company, but we haven’t heard back,” Leas said.
The owners are asking a federal judge to force the lottery to allow them to win a $1 million jackpot, but it’s unclear if the state lottery office would accept the offer.
A spokeswoman for the lottery said in an email that they were aware of the dispute and were continuing to evaluate the situation.
The state lottery operator says they can’t comment on pending litigation.
